The Honors Dental Assisting Program combines classroom instruction with clinical and laboratory experiences to provide students with skills in the field of dental assisting. Students study dental anatomy, identification and use of instruments, laboratory skills, and office procedures. Other subjects include infection control, radiology, and expanded functions. Students can take the certification tests offered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) in these respective areas.
This program provides them with the opportunity to participate in the Work-Based Learning program. Career opportunities are available in clinical practice dental assisting, dental sales, and dental insurance. Instruction also provides information about other careers in the field of dentistry. With further education, career options can include positions such as dental hygienists, dental laboratory technicians, and dental specialists.​
